The Drago Palace

The Drago Palace

The DRAGO PALACE is located on the square next to the Cathedral of St Trypun and belonged to the noble Drago family. This palace was completely demolished in a devastating earthquake in 1979. The municipality of Kotor erected a new palace in the same place and today you can see a beautiful window (the only one preserved in one piece after the earthquake) in the Gothic style as well as a carved small coat of arms on the palace. Below the Gothic window is a street passage above which white angels are carved in the window. The coat of arms of the Drago family is a dragon. After the disappearance of the Drago family, this palace housed a kindergarten and today visitors will find here the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments.
