How to reach Church of Monte on Madeira
From Funchall follow the signs to Monte. When you get to Monte you will notice a large paved plateau with a few cafés and street souvenir seller. You should park your car somewhere here. There is not a large parking dedicated to tourists, so you have to improvise and park like everyone else in the street that leads uphill.
From this plateau you will notice the stairs that lead to the church itself.
You can reach the church even by using one of the local bus lines. These are the bus lines that will take you to Monte: 20, 48, 56, 103.
Our suggestion is to ask at your hotel or accommodation which bus line is most convenient and where the closest bus stop is located.
