The National Park Sutjeska is one of the oldest in the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located territorially in three municipalities, Foča, Gacko and Kalinovik. It covers an area of 17,500 hectares. More than 66% of the park area is covered with forest, which is an inexhaustible treasure trove for enjoying the natural beauty of this place. This area is part of the Dinarides, which further extends deep into the Balkan Peninsula, all the way to Prokletije on the border with Montenegro and Albania. For years, the Sutjeska River has cut its way through a raging canyon and flows through the very heart of this national park. There is also the last rainforest in Europe, Perućica, with the famous Skakavac waterfall.
The Valley of Heroes - a monument on Tjentište - Time is like a river, flowing fast and non-stop. Its tributaries come to it, years, each carries something new and unpredictable, but there remains something that testifies to each previous one, and these are monuments that represent one type of time machine, because time goes in one direction and memories in the other.
Perućica Rainforest - It is a fascinating realization that there is still a place somewhere that has not been influenced by the human factor. Where the birth-life-death cycle of plants and animals takes place. Forests are special places, magical and unique. In summer when the heat reigns as the queen of the season the forest is defiant and provides freshness. In the spring, she conjures up the awakening of the world. The chirping of birds overpowers any noise, and in autumn, a beautiful blanket made of leaves painted with magical colors adorns the beautiful landscape and makes it fabulous.
