Cairo:

The Tower in Cairo

The Tower in Cairo

Located in the middle of the island of Gezira, the Tower of Cairo (187 meters) is the tallest structure in Egypt and the entire North Africa. Completed in 1961, the Tower has become one of the symbols and landmarks of Cairo. The top of the tower includes a rotating observation point and a restaurant, which offers a spectacular view of the city of Cairo, from the Pyramids to the Citadel.
The tower was constructed using granite and it is “wrapped” in a structure that resembles a lotus flower.
The city of Cairo does not have many high points where visitors can observe the capital from above, and even this panoramic view from the top floor of the tower is not as astounding as one might expect.
If visitors wish to climb the tower, they should keep in mind that on certain days the city’s characteristic mist will not allow them to see the horizon clearly. Our advice would be to choose a day when the sky is clear.
