Las Canteras is a long, sandy beach spanning the shore of the capital, Las Palmas. The local people say that this particular beach is one of the best city beaches in all of Spain.
An escape from the city’s crowd and noise is available at this beach, where you can swim, sunbathe, surf (this is, in fact, the ocean, so waves are a normal occurrence), as well as enjoy many restaurants and bars.
Gran Canaria is a great sea life reservation. There are a thousand species of fish in the ocean around the island. In addition to this, the most unique characteristic of this beach must be the stone formation the locals call “La Barra”, made out of volcanic stone, which serves as a protective shield against ebb and flow. This rock formation protects Gran Canaria from large waves and makes it an ideal place for swimming, and when the water ebbs, you can literally walk on water here
