Victoria and Albert Museum is the largest applied arts and design museum in the world, spreading over seven floors. The museum exhibits 4.5 million items of artistic value. It was officially opened in 1852, and was renamed into its current name in 1899, after the royal couple, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It contains extensive Hinduistic, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Islamic and European decorative arts collections.
Each of its seven floors contain numerous artistic items, including jewelry, glass, weapons and armour, clothing, ceramics, furniture, architectural samples, paintings, metal objects, chinese noble metals and an endless collection of artwork from around the world.
The museum is too big to be seen in a day. It is definitely worth a visit. You will have the impression of being lost in art, but don’t worry as the museum is well organized, and you can get a map at the entrance which tells you what each floor offers.
