Perast is a baroque city where visitors will have the chance to visit incredible palaces, wonderful islands of St. George and Our Lady of the Rocks, enjoy the sun and beautiful beaches and taste some unique local dishes such as famous Perast cake.
Zmajevic Palace is located just above the coast and it can be reached by climbing steep stairs from the coast to the top of the highway above Perast. Another noble family gave to the city of Perast a magnificent palace, with the family church of Our Lady of Rosary and a bell tower. The Zmajevic family was buried in the family church next to the palace. The most significant representative of this family was Admiral Matija Zmajevic. It is not possible to visit the palace from the inside, but you can enter the church and the courtyard.
Viskovic Palace is located on the other side of Perast (right next to the road to Kotor), right by the sea. The palace is unfortunately old and rugged, with a beautiful mansion overlooking the bay. A rich artistic collection of the family Viskovic is exhibited in the Museum of Perast.
The house of Tripo Kokolja, the famous Baroque painter, is located next to the bell tower that dominates the city. His most significant works are exhibited in the Church of Our Lady of the Rocks; In the upper part of the side walls, there are four large paintings: Anne, The Descent of the Holy Spirit, Death of St. Mary and the Coronation of St. Mary.
