The MAAT Museum

The MAAT Museum

MAAT Museum of Modern Architectural Appearance leaves no one indifferent. The museum is located in a part of the city called Belem, along the river Tagus, and it was symbolically built on the place from which the researchers went to the white world. Every museum serves to teach us something, so the MAAT Museum teaches and researches art in general and technology and modern architecture. At the site where the museum is located today, there used to be a "Central Tagus" power plant.

With its design, the museum is out of competition, and the outer walls of the museum are made of tiles that reflect the sun's rays, the color of the sky, the river and the surroundings on a daily basis. So this museum is always a different color on the outside. The roof of the museum, where you can sit and enjoy the view of the city or the river, is made so that it shines sunlight from the surface of the river to the building.

This museum does not deviate from the surroundings with its appearance, but fits perfectly into the landscape with its design. There are several rooms and exhibition spaces for masterpieces of modern art inside the museum. The MAAT Museum, which is said to be the museum of the future, was created in 2016, and was created by the architectural studio ALA from London.

The goal of this museum is to motivate visitors and the audience to learn something new through their knowledge and discussion, but also to create a healthy relationship between culture and changes in society. In this place, creativity comes to its full expression through imagining, which means vision, through the creation and "settlement" of something new.
