Petrozavodsk:

Monument to Peter the Great

Monument to Peter the Great

On the Onega river promenade which we can call an open-air museum you can find a monument to the founder of the city - the Emperor Peter the Great. That was Olonets Governor G.G. Grigoriev who commissioned the installation of the monument to Peter I in Petrozavodsk in honor of the 200th an niversary of the Emperor in 1871. The location for the monument was in the centre of the historic Circular Square, which was named Petrovskaya then.
Wearing his military  coat with his left leg put forward, Peter the Great's right hand is pointing towards the original place of the foundation of Petrozavodsk.
