Saint Petersburg is arguably the most beautiful city in the whole Russia. It used to be the capital of the Russian empire and it always represented the link between the traditional and modern Russia. The most famous world architects used to come to this place in order to lend itself to the divine glow of this newborn city on the river Neva. Saint Petersburg is like a modern fairy tale. Dotted with picture perfect monuments, it has over 300 museums and 70 theaters. It is a young city, but with turbulent history and courageous citizens (over 700.000 people died in Peter due to famine and bombing in The Second World War, and another 2.000.000 million died in its liberation from the Nazis).
Inaptly called The Venice of the North, Saint Petersburg is much more than you can ever expect, and it can take months till you actually manage to see all the attractions this city has to offer.
