Gran Canaria:

Roque Nublo

Roque Nublo

Translated as “The Boulder among the Clouds”, this volcanic rock formation is located at the very center of the island of Gran Canaria. The rock is located in the rural park spreading over an area of 263.074km2. The Roque Nublo was created around 4.5 million years ago thanks to a volcanic eruption. It is 76 meters high, and is located at a height of 1813m. On the rock itself, there is a natural tower that is 60-meters high, formed as a result of the breaking off of large parts of the rock, and from afar,
it resembles a human finger pointed at the sky. The Guanchos, the indigenous people of Gran Canaria, thought the tower to be the sacred pillar of the sky. It was used as a site of sacrificial rituals in honor of the God of the Sun.

The rock is one of Gran Canaria’s tourist sites and is an interesting experience for the visitors who want to enjoy more than the beaches and sun of the island, and those who want to experience all of the beauty of Gran Canaria.
