The Finnhamn Island

The Finnhamn Island

We recommend the Finnhamn archipelago to everyone who wants to relax! A natural harbour and islands whose large parts are qualified as nature reserves thanks you amazing landscapes and rich flora. This is at the same time one of the most visited group of islands in the archipelago, owned by the Archipelago Foundation. Beautiful landscapes, deciduous forests, sand beaches, meadows, rainforests, fertile and infertile land make the island unique. Do not be surprised if you come across a deer or a possum, and there is birds’ song everywhere.

The island is most visited during summer, seasonal shops are open, restaurants are full, and there are different activities in offer. A rich coal trader built a house on the island in 1915 that is today turned into a youth hostel. It is open during the whole year. Take a walk, hike or ride a bicycle before you go for a drink at Finnhamn’s Café and Krog and relax. Rent a boat, enjoy and relax like true Swedes. Autumn and winter are not less attractive. There is peace and serenity, a different kind of magic. Long calming walks, hot saunas with swimming in glacier water will make you want to stay there forever.
