When to visit Egypt

When to visit Egypt

Egypt has different landscapes and consequently different climates. Here are the main areas and the best times to visit them based on the climate.

Northern Egypt (Mediterranean coast, Cairo, and Alexandria): Ideally visitors should come during spring and autumn - when the heat is not yet intense and the rains are scarce.

Eastern Egypt (Coasts of the Red Sea, Marsa Alam, and Sharm el-Sheikh): During spring and autumn because the temperatures are not too high.

Central-Southern Egypt (Inland areas and desert): From November to February, when temperature, although still hot, is tolerable.

The best time to visit Egypt depends on the destination. Spring (between March and April) and autumn (between October and November) are ideal periods to visit cities because there is no summer heat and winter rains. These periods are also perfect for spending days on the beach on both coasts, taking advantage of the lower influx of people and the pleasant temperature that is never extreme like it is during the summer.

As for the desert areas, you should choose the period from November to February, when the temperatures are around 20°C or so and will allow you to enjoy a pleasant tour in the desert.
In economic terms, on the other hand, the beginnings of spring and the end of autumn are the periods with the lowest traveling prices to Egypt with the low season for Egyptian tourism.

When not to visit Egypt?

We already wrote an article where we explained when it is the best time to visit Egypt. However, when you should not go to Egypt? You should avoid coming to Egypt between December and February. If visitors would like to visit the mountains, they will find them covered with snow, there is weak rain in the cities and the humidity is quite high, while the temperature at the seaside drops as low as 18°C, which is not ideal weather for spending days at the beach. Summer should also be avoided, especially if visitors plan to travel the desert areas where temperatures can reach up to 50°C.
