Every year, numerous festivals are organized in Ljubljana, which make this city even more lively and a real pleasure for all visitors. Tourists can of course enjoy the famous carnival or wine tasting and Slovenian specialties.
The traditional Ljubljana Dragon Festival is a large carnival procession through the streets of Ljubljana, which brings together guests from Slovenia and abroad. The program is held on the streets of Ljubljana and the entertainment part of the festival is held on Congress Square. Some masked figures at this carnival are now a tradition, and these are masks such as: "Kurent", "Laufar", "Morostar", which can be seen every year on the streets of Ljubljana and without which the carnival would be unthinkable.
Ljubljana Wine Tasting is an open-air festival. At first it was held in November, after the grape harvest, but the event has become so popular that it is now held in June as well. It is possible to enjoy the best aromas of wine on the streets of Ljubljana twice a year. The festival in June is held until late in the evening due to the longer duration of the day and warmer weather.
The Ljubljana Jazz Festival is held every year at the end of June for the last 60 years. This event with a long tradition occupies an honorable place as the oldest musical event of its kind in Europe. The festival consists of about 15 jazz music programs and concerts, where the emphasis on the style of jazz music is placed on the avant-garde and "free jazz". The festival was founded in 1960, and during all this time it has gathered a large number of the greatest jazz names from around the world. When the festival was founded, the Big Band of RTV Slovenia was then formed, which is one of the most famous bands from Yugoslavia that played beautiful jazz.
