Saint Nicholas's Cathedral is located in the heart of Ljubljana. This building is the main catholic church, where the Archbishop of Ljubljana serves Mass. The church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas who is considered to be protector of sailors and fishermen. The cathedral is located on the site of an even older church, built in 1262, which unfortunately burned down in a fire in 1361. The original church was a Romanesque Basilica in style. The newly built church was built in the Gothic style.
