Museum of Contemporary Art

Museum of Contemporary Art - One of the most visited museums in Barcelona is located in the part of the city called El Raval. The museum is considered a national treasure. Here all lovers of contemporary and abstract art will find something to admire. The Museum of Contemporary Art is abbreviated as MACBA. In the foreground are prominent works of Spanish and Catalan art after 1945. In addition to the local artists who are prominent in the museum, you can definitely see the works of international artists here.

The origins of the museum are attributed to the Catalan artist, writer and great admirer of art, the Catalan art critic Alcesandro Sirisa Peljiser. He was the president of the Association of Contemporary Artists. This Association greatly influenced the creation of the museum of contemporary art as it is today, and inspiration was found in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The museum was officially opened in 1995, after agreeing on where the museum could be located and on which location it should be built. The construction was led by an American architect. The surface of the building is 14,300 m². The construction of this very beautiful and modern building began in 1991. White color and glass surfaces give a special light to the space and make the museum very elegant.
It contains over 5,000 works of art signed by some of the most famous artists. The museum occupies the premises of some of the surrounding buildings.

If you want to get inspired, the Museum of Contemporary Art is a good stop for that.
