Shopping in Stockholm

As in any other developed city, shopping is something you should not miss in Stockholm. There are so many malls and shopping streets in Stockholm. Besides its cultural sights, tourists also visit malls and enjoy shopping. Clothes, souvenirs, food – these are all memories that tourists love to take with them from Stockholm.

The main shopping street in Stockholm is the inescapable Drottninggatan, also called “Queen Street”. It stretches from Observatorielunden to the Royal Palace. Drottninggatan is a true pedestrian street, without traffic. It is perfect for any kind of shopping. Brands such as H&M, Zara, small shopping malls, renowned Swedish designers, gift shops, specialized shops, restaurants cafés are located along the entire street. You may find a large number of brands, cosmetics, books and paintings on the corner of Drottininggatan and Klarabergsgatan streets, in “Ahlens City” department store.

During summer, you may encounter numerous street performers and artists entertaining tourists. You can spend almost a whole day in Drottninggatan and not get bored. Malls visited by all shopaholics, with boutiques and cafés for parents and playhouses for children are: “MOOD”, “Söderhallarna”, “Gallerian”, “MOOD Galleria”, “Sturegallerian”. “Mercado al aire libre” is a market place downtown where you may buy fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as beautiful Scandinavian flowers. Jewelry enthusiasts will for sure visit “NK Fine Jewellery and Watches”.

There are numerous outlets around Stockholm, some of them are: “Bromma Blocks”, “MOS”, “Kista Galleria”, “Stockholm Quality Outlet” and “Farsta Mall”. Stores that are worth visiting, even though you might not go shopping are “Designtorget” clothing stores with the latest pieces from new Swedish manufacturers and designers - from unconventional clothes, decorative pottery, world novels to paintings and postcards.

It is a heaven for interior enthusiasts, a perfect place to buy a unique gift in Stockholm. “Designtorget” are on almost all shopping malls, but there are smaller ones as well in Stockholm’s bigger streets.
