The Olympic Stadium or the London Acquatics Center peaked in popularity during the 2012 London Olympics. It was here that Usain Bolt beat the world record in the 100m sprint, becoming a living legend of the sport. The opening ceremony was truly spectacular, but was still in the shadow of the ceremony seen in Beijing. All of Britain’s elite, including Queen Elizabeth II, attended the opening of the Olympics.
Today, the venue is the home of West Ham United soccer club. It was taken over by the club in 2016, after the demolishion of Upton Park, which had been their home since 1904. Their fans are known as The Hammers, as the club was actually established by the workers in the London Steel Mill.
Visit to the stadium is one of the most elaborate in Britain, as you will be able to see the changing rooms, the stands, as well as the pitch itself.
