How to reach the airport

How to reach the airport from Budapest (or Budapest from the airport)?

The quickest way is to use a taxi: the airport’s own taxi firm is called Főtaxi, and you can expect to pay between 6000HUF and 7000HUF (around €20) for this service. The journey lasts between 30 and 40 minutes on average. We wouldn’t recommend using any other taxi companies for this journey as their prices tend to be a bit higher.

You can also travel via minibus, which will take you from the airport to the city center for around 4400HUF (around €12.5) for a single person, or 5900HUF (around €17) for two people.

You can also travel using the public transport system. Take the 100E bus to the city center, or the 200E bus to Kőbánya-Kispesta station, and then take the metro to reach the city center. The 100E bus requires a ticket which is more expensive than other buses, costing 900HUF instead of the regular 350HUF. The 200E bus requires a normal individual ticket (350HUF), and an additional metro ticket to the city center.

Tickets can be bought at the airport or at ticket vending machines. You can also buy them on the bus, but if you decide to do so, you will only be able to pay using the local currency.
