The 12 Embassy Buildings- In 1878, Montenegro got its independence for the first time at the Congress of Berlin, which allowed the country to establish diplomatic ties to other countries. As a result of this, Cetinje got the 12 beautiful embassy buildings. It is enough for you to stroll down the pedestrian street near them to witness their beauty, still as intense as when the buildings were first built. Today, the buildings are home to 10 embassies, but the name is still used nevertheless. Here, you can see the embassies of Austria, Belgium, England, France, Italy, Bulgaria, Germany, Russia, Serbia and Turkey.
One of the most beautiful buildings of the group is the Russian Embassy, which has been in Cetinje since 1900. At one time there was an all-girls’ gymnasium in the building, as well as a state-run school for teachers. You must go for a tour of the buildings, which range from lavishly decorated ones to some with a more simplistic approach, a truly unique aspect of Cetinje.
