The Lipska cave is located only five kilometers away from cetinje, in the small Montenegrin village of Lipa Dobrska, just next to the famous restaurant located next to the main highway, as well as close to the Belveder viewpoint. After turning from the main highway, an old, 3km cobbled road leads you straight to the cave. The Lipska cave is the only cave with an entrance fee in the country. The cave system consists of 2.5 kilometer long tunnels, a large hall and a gallery covered in stalactites and stalagmites. The cave was discovered long ago, before the rule of Petar II, and even then visits to the cave were common. Petar II, as well as King Nikola Petrović often visited the cave themselves.
During World War Two, the cave was used as a shelter. A tourist guide takes tourists on a tour of the cave, making sure to provide each visitor with a jacket, as the temperature of the cave is fairly low.
In August, when outside temperatures rise to 35 degrees, the temperature inside the cave is often closer to 10 degrees Celsius. The cave is usually open for visits only during the summer holiday season, with the inavoidable Montenegrin wine tasting inside the cave.
The Lipska Cave is suitably configured for visits, with lights installed to ease your stroll and visits, whether you are visiting it with your family or, for the more adventurous visitors who want to explore the cave further, using suitable equipment for the task, as the cave is not fully explored. This cave adventure will let you explore nature to its fullest.
The site where a small train takes visitors to the cave also has a parking lot, a shop, a souvenir store, as well as a cafe.
The entrance fee for the Lipska Cave costs €10.
