Herceg Novi:

Pet Danica Walkway

Pet Danica Walkway

The Pet Danica Walkway is the longest shore walkway in the city, with its six kilometers connecting Meljine to Igalo, between which Herceg Novi is situated.

The walkway got its name after five women who died durin World War Two, all of whom were named Danica. A portion of the old Zelenika-Sarajevo train line passed through this walkway, and one train car of the once-famous train, Ćira, can still be seen in Zelenika. Apart from the fact that it stretches along the sea shore, the walkway enables you to visit numerous sandy and concrete beaches, cafes, beach-restaurants, taverns, souvenir stores. In addition to this, you can also visit the city pier, Škver, the yachting club, as well as reach the city center following the steps connecting the walkway to it. Locals frequently use this walkway to enjoy walking, jogging, bicycle riding, as well as playing tennis on some of Igalo’s big tennis courts. In the middle of the walkway, there is a tunnel, legendary for the myth that, if one holds their breath while running from one end of the tunnel to exit from the other, their wish will come true. Why not try making a wish there, it might just come true!
