Kotor:

Bizanti Palace

Bizanti Palace

BIZANTI PALACE is situated in the main town square. In historical writings, the Bizanti family of Kotor was mentioned for the first time in the 11th century. This family has given numerous famous people, including captains, professors and priests. The Bizanti Palace consists of several parts, and above the main entrance there is the coat of arms of the Bizanti family. The most prominent figure of this family was Nikola Bizanti, a prominent judge of the city of Kotor. After the earthquake in 1667, Nikola contributed the most to the reconstruction of the palace itself and to the even greater construction of the family home. Next to the palace, down the street, there is the entrance to the courtyard of this house (free of charge), where visitors can see what the courtyard looked like with a stone staircase, balconies and an old water well. Pure romance!
