The bell tower is one of the main symbols of the city of Perast. It is 55 meters high and is the second tallest bell tower in the Adriatic shore. The bell tower was built in the seventeenth century.
The big clock on the bell tower stands still at 4:00, ever since 1979 when Boka was struck by a strong earthquake. There are 60 narrow stairs leading to the top of the bell tower, offering a beautiful view of Perast's roofs and the entire bay. The bell tower is located on St. Nikola Square.
Ticket price for Perast Bell Tower: 1.5 €
(!) If it is expected that a cruiser enters or leaves the bay, visits to the bell tower will not be allowed at that moment as it is not recommended to stand next to the bells while the bells ring and greet the ship.
Church of St. Nicholas is another Catholic church in Perast, built in the seventeenth century. It consists of a church and a museum. Visiting the church is free of charge, while the admission to the museum costs € 2.
(!) On Sundays from 9am to 11am there is a mass in the church, attended mainly by only two people. Keep in mind that Perast has only 170 inhabitants.
The Square or Piazza Sv. Nicholas is the main and only square in Perast. It is the main meeting place for the locals.
There are three sculptures of the most prominent citizens of Perast on the square of Saint Nikola, those of Marko Martinovic, Matija Zmajevic and Tripo Kokolja
