Kotor:

Napoleon's Theatre

Napoleon's Theatre

Napoleon's Theater is located on the main city square, annexed to the Providence Palace. The building was built along the city walls in the eighteenth century. After the fall of the Venetian Republic, the French authorities conquered Kotor and in 1810 built a permanent theater building, which was one of the first in Montenegro. This theater was very important for the residents of Kotor and for raising cultural awareness in the city. But only wealthy residents could afford to watch plays in this theater. The theater was open until the end of the 19th century. In the 1979 earthquake, the theater building was one of the most heavily damaged in Kotor, and later completely restored
