The Karampana well is located in the street between the Grgurina Palace (Naval Museum Building) and Orthodox Square. The well was built in baroque style in the seventeenth century and preserved its former appearance to present day. At that time, this place was the only source of drinking water in the entire city. This was the place where the locals were gathering and women who carried water to the palaces of famous Kotor citizens. Everyone was coming here for drinking water, to do laundry, but also to find out new happenings in the city and a new gossip. Karampana was the main gathering place and this tradition has been retained by some older ladies to the present day.
