Buenos Aires:

The Ecological Reserve

The Ecological Reserve

The Ecologic Reserve known as Constanera Sur is a natural reservation that spreads over an area of 350 hectares, and is the biggest and most beautiful oasis in Buenos Aires. It is truly incredible that an oasis of this size and beauty can be seen in the city, near some of the most crowded boulevards and neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. Visitors of this reservation can see various species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and thousands of plant species, some of which can only be seen in Argentina.

There are an astounding fifty different species of birds, and around 2000 species of plants. The reservation found itself in this location completely by chance, after a construction project failed to be finished, and the government managed to purchase a neighboring plot of land, which was then designated to become a part of this green oasis.

The area was declared a national reservation in 1986, and in 2005, the area came under the protection of the country, particularly because of the species of birds who live in the Constanera Sur. You can walk around all of the parts of the park in an hour and a half , but if you want to complete the visit by also seeing the Ciervo de los Pantanos National Park, and the Pilar natural Reservation, you will at least need a bicycle, as this route is around 95km long.

In the Constanera Sur, you will witness some truly magnificent reptile species that you surely have not seen yet. You will also have a chance to join a tour, where a guide will show you around the premises. The tours are educational in nature, offering you a lot of information about this habitat, as well as on how to keep the environment in general clean and healthy.

The entrance is FREE OF CHARGE
