Public transport in Buenos Aires consists of different systems that allow you to travel easily and quickly, as well as to visit many landmarks, museums and other attractions. You can travel by bus (colectivos), metro (subte), taxi, train or on bicycles. Of course, we recommend that you avoid travelling during rush hour, when people are going to, or returning from, work.

Buses, which are called Colectivos in Argentina, are the most frequented forms of public transport in Buenos Aires. There are more than 200 lines that go on every five minutes, and they operate all day, every day. You can also use the Metrobus, which uses more exclusive routes and is generally quicker than ordinary bus lines.The regular ticket price for the bus is 23 ARS. The Metro is known as the Subte and is the oldest underground transportation system in South America. The metro boasts around 60km of railways, all separated into 6 lines and 85 stations. The prices of taxies in Buenos Aires depend on the route, the length of the travel and the time of day when you decide to take a taxi. The basic price at the start of the ride is 59.5 ARS, and every next kilometer travelled costs an additional 29.75 ARS. The waiting fee is 357 ARS per hour. The aforementioned prices are valid during the day. Between 10pm and 6am, the starting price is 71.4 ARS, while every kilometer costs another 35.7 ARS. The waiting fee for each hour costs 428.4 ARS.
