Piccadilly Circus is the default gathering point in London for locals and tourists alike. It is situated in the heart of the city, leading those who gather there to many shopping centers and other fun-filled spots. This incredible landmark was constructed at the start of the 19th century and has since been one of the most famous and important landmarks of London.
Bearing much likeness to the Times Square in New York, the Piccadilly Circus is famous for its neon signs, the Eros fountain located in the very center of the circus, which is in itself one of the most important landmarks of London. The Shaftesbury Memorial, The Criterion Theater as well as the London Pavilion, are also located on the square, in addition to many cinemas, theaters, restaurants, bars and famous pubs where visitors can try some homemade beers.
Piccadilly Circus is synonymous for leisure, fun and great London nightlife. Even though the landmark is always crowded, there is a certain flair to the circus’s bustling nature when night comes and it is filled with young people. During World War Two, Piccadilly Circus was a codename for the gathering point of the Allied invasion fleet in the English Channel.
