LAZAR'S SATURDAY is one of the most beautiful Orthodox holidays. On that day, the cortege starts from Risan, from the Church of St. Peter and Paul and walk to the Banja Monastery where people pray, then picks the flowers from the courtyard of the monastery. The day after, people wash their faces with water and flowers that they took from the Monastery and the nuns treat each guest with cookies.
This feast is commemorated in the last week of the Fast and is dedicated to the memory of the resurrection of Lazarus (it is believed that Jesus Christ resurrected Lazarus) and the solemn entry of Christ into Jerusalem. According to legend, Lazar, as archbishop of Cyprus, lived another 30 years after his resurrection, preaching Christianity.
