This is the only sandy beach on the lake, and is perfect for freshwater lovers. If you come to the lake via Bar-Podgorica, you reach Virpazar, from where the road leads to the beach Murici. In small Virpazar, the only stone bridge divides the road into two parts. To the left and up is the road that leads to Murici beach. Friendly locals are happy to meet every traveler. Virpazar was once known by the name of vir, in time it became the trade center of Skadar Lake, where people went to the market (market) to buy fish. Thus the place vir is today called virpazar. In 1908, Virpazar got a railway that passes by the place and which connected this town with the rest of Montenegro. During the summer, Virpazar is very popular, but also during the festival that takes place there in January. It is a wine and bleak festival, where fish is prepared on the spot and distributed free of charge. With great fish, wine and music, fun is guaranteed.

The village of Karuč on Skadar Lake is an authentic old place worth visiting. Karuč was once a temporary settlement, from where fishermen went fishing, because Karučko oko was very famous for its bleak fish. The stone houses that are still there today used to serve fishermen to store equipment until the next fishing trip. Petar I Petrović chose this place as the place where he will spend the winter. Today, in a dilapidated condition, there is the winter quarters of the great Peter the Great. In Karuč there is a restaurant on the shore of the lake with fish specialties. From May to October is the best time to visit the lake. Near Karuč there is another authentic village called Dodoši. This village is adorned with old stone houses, locals who drive the famous Skadar boats, as untouched nature that we all need in these fast times.
