The Village Karuč

The Village Karuč

The village of Karuč on Skadar Lake is an authentic old place worth visiting. Karuč was once a temporary settlement, from where fishermen went fishing, because Karučko oko was very famous for its bleak fish. The stone houses that are still there today used to serve fishermen to store equipment until the next fishing trip. Petar I Petrović chose this place as the place where he will spend the winter. Today, in a dilapidated condition, there is the winter quarters of the great Peter the Great. In Karuč there is a restaurant on the shore of the lake with fish specialties. From May to October is the best time to visit the lake. Near Karuč there is another authentic village called Dodoši. This village is adorned with old stone houses, locals who drive the famous Skadar boats, as untouched nature that we all need in these fast times.
