About fifteen kilometers from Rovinj are the remains of medieval Divgrad. Like most Istrian maritime towns, Divgrad fell under Venetian rule. The city is very well preserved because it was not destroyed in the wars that ravaged Istria, but the inhabitants left the city for years. There are still city gates, several towers that defended the city and more than 200 houses have been preserved. Divrgrad has been abandoned for many years, left to itself and the ravages of time, but lately work is being done on the reconstruction and restoration of the city and the city is becoming an unavoidable place for all visitors.
