Barcelona Zoo

The Zoo is a part of Ciutatadella. The park expands on 13 hectares and it was opened in 1892. There are approximately 5.500 animals, i.e. 400 species. The most entertaining sections of the park are the one with marine mammals and the one with large primates. The Zoo also offers many educational programs for children as well as for adults. Performances by seals, dolphins and similar types of animals are organized over the summer months.

What is important to mention is the very symbol of the Zoo – an albino gorilla that was brought by zoologist Jordi Sabater Pi from Central Africa region, and named it Snowflake. Snowflake entertained visitors in the period from 1966, when it was brought in, until 2003, when he passed away. A minimum time to visit the whole Zoo is at least three hours.
