Mirissa beach is located on the south of Sri Lanka. With breathtakingly beautiful glittering gold sand this beach represents a true tropical paradise for its visitors. Locals say that here one may see the most beautiful sunrises/sunsets on the island. All guest houses are located a bit away from the beach which gives an impression as if you were located right in the middle of a desert beach dotted with cute little coconut trees. This is a complete stress free zone of Sri Lanka. There are many hotels and guest houses which seem to have sprouted around the beach and many guest houses offer a great breakfast/lunch offers even for the guests that did not stay at their house. The prices are really reasonable so we would recommend trying them out.
The nearby cities are Matara or Weligama, 4 km away from Mirissa beach. You can take a local bus or you can simply enjoy the tuk tuk ride (for 4 km ride the tuk tuk driver would tend to charge you 400 LRK).
