The Public Transport

The Public Transport

Miami’s public transportation is easy to use and quite affordable. Tourists who do not want to spend a lot of money on transportation use Metrorail, Metromover and Metrobus rather than taxi. In addition to being cheap, this type of transportation is also convenient for sightseeing and visiting some of the attractions in the city.

Metrorail represents a rail transit system which covers the whole Miami. Everything is connected through Metrorail. With a network that is 70 kilometers long, this means of transportation can get you fast and cheap from the airport to downtown or south of Miami. Metrorail Orange line goes to the airport. Tickets for Metrorail costs $2.25. You can buy them at Metrorail stations or on the Internet. Easy Pay app makes it possible to buy bus or train tickets cheap for the Miami-Dade transportation system. You can buy the map of Metrorail or download it from the Internet.

Metromover is the best transportation option in downtown Miami. Best of all, it is free. Metromover connects Metrorail and Metrobus lines, and it runs in downtown. There are designated Metromover stops in the city. They are located near significant sights or centers in the city, such as: American Airlines Arena, Miami Heat, Ferre Park, the Perez Art Museum, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science. In addition to that, there are many shops and restaurants that tourists gladly visit on the Metromover line.

Metrobus is a bus line with more than 95 routes. Metrobus transports people where Metrorail does not. In addition to downtown Miami, Metrobus also goes to Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, Fort Lauderdale and the Florida Keys. Metrobus operates every day – most of people use this means of transportation. Some lines are active 24 hours, some less. Ticket prices go from $2.25. You can buy them in the bus or on a Metrobus station. Metrobus connects South Beach with downtown Miami and other beaches, so this is the transportation people use most often when going to a beach.

There is an old trolley line that runs in the old part of the town. It is fun and free, and it is also uncommon means of transportation which is free and convenient enough for exploring the city while enjoying a ride.
