The Whitney focuses on American art with collections from the 20th and 21st century, with special emphasis on contemporary artists. It has a modern design and it is located in lower Manhattan. It was designed by Renzo Piano, and it was opened in 2015. Construction works lasted 5 years, and the costs amounted to $442 million. It stretches on 1.700m2 and has 8 floors. Within the building, there is a gallery, a library, a theatre, an education center, a study room and two floors with permanent exhibitions. Michelle Obama and Bill de Blasio attended the opening ceremony.

The Isamu Noguchi Museum

The first aspect of the Noguchi Museum you are going to notice is its unusual exterior design. It is located in the Long Island City section of Queens. It stretches on 2.200m2, it has two floors and a garden with sculptures. It was founded by the Japanese-American sculptor and artist Isamu Noguchi with the aim of exhibiting his works that he considered representative. This is the first museum in America dedicated to an artist with still ongoing career. He renamed his old foundation to the Isamu Noguchi Foundation that later leased the Noguchi Museum in Queens.

The Frick Collection is an art museum located in the Henry Clay Frick House, the American art collector. This is one of the most prominent art museums in New York. The art collection is located in Frick’s summer house on Fifth Avenue. The mansion has 16 beautifully decorated rooms where the collection is exhibited. The construction works lasted from 1913 to 1914. The collection was significantly expanded upon Frick’s death.
