Porta Nuova District in Milan

Porta Nuova District is a new development project in Milan. It is a must for those who enjoy modern architecture. Nevertheless, even those not so interested in architecture will surely enjoy the scene and the walk. It is right next to Corso Como, the fashion and nightlife district.

Porta Nuova is one of the six main gates in Milan. It was built between 1810 and 1813, during the Napoleonic period. This gate gives the name to the whole district, which has undergone huge transformation. In order to follow world trends, this area was envisioned as the business, commercial and modern residential area of the city. The project began in 2009 and it was realized in 2014.
The gate itself is not such an important touristic attraction, but the modern district is, especially for those that enjoy modern architecture. In the center of it there is a square with fountains and it offers a bit of shopping and a chance to have a coffee and enjoy for a while. It is right next to Corso Como, the fashion and nightlife district.

Interesting facts

  • The new development project resulted in 57.000 m² of office space, 400 apartments, 11.000m² of commercial area and 4.500 parking spots.
