Marrakesh:

The Ourika Valley

The Ourika Valley

Ourika Valley and Ourika River are one of the most sought after attractions outside the city of Marrakech. Ourika is a valley in the Moroccan High Atlas and is located along the river Ourika, i.e. it follows its course. It is located about 30 km from Marrakech, and is inhabited by Berbers. Despite the proximity of Marrakech, it is still considered a well-preserved valley, by its nature and traditional mountain way of life. In addition to a beautiful walk through these areas where you walk downhill while surrounded by the gigantic Mount Atlas, you can also see Setti-Fatma - the last small town that can be accessed by paved route. From here, all the tours that lead you to the amazing Ourika waterfalls start.

The first waterfall is relatively easy to reach, but you will need the right shoes for the other six. If the day is warm enough, you can have a swim in the Ourika River, although the water can be very cold. Try it.

Here you will have the opportunity to see traditional houses and be hosted in them. Of course, you can choose whether you want to enter them. You can also buy numerous souvenirs that are beautiful handicrafts of local masters, and you can also see what the main market in this city has to offer, which is mostly organized on Mondays.
