Øia Music Festival

Øia Music Festival

Øia music festival is held every year in August and it last for four days. International stars and newly-discovered musical talents perform at this festival, which gathers an average of 60 thousand visitors to Tøien Park each year. The festival features multiple stages, shops and vendors selling food. Between 1971 and 1997, this festival was held on Kalvøia Island and featured stars such as Frank Zappa, Jackson Browne and Nirvana. Øia took the concept in 1999 and the concerts continued to be held. In 2001, the festival was moved to the city, but the name, which translates to “Island” was kept. First being held in Medieval Park, the festival was finally moved to Tøien Park near the city center.
