The Military Museum of the Armed Forces in Maribor is one of the most visited museums, and was founded in 2004. It shows the life, actions and documents of the Slovenian army. The museum studies, preserves and collects documents of the Slovenian army. Different periods of history are shown in the museum, the life of the army as it used to be is approximated, as well as the daily routines of today's Slovenians who serve in the army in Slovenia and abroad.

The collection consists of 15 important items, including small arms, uniforms and equipment, armored vehicles, naval material, archival documents and maps, medals and rank insignia, stamps and seals, works of art related to the military, etc. Most of the collection comes from the 20th century, but there are also some items from the 18th and 19th centuries, such as old pistols.

In addition to these collections, there are three more important collections that deal with history, namely the fight for the northern Slovenian border, the war for independence and the development of the Slovenian army from 1991 to the present day. In addition, the museum is often involved in organizing the museum collection of armored vehicles and artillery-missile weapons in the Military History Park in Pivka. During the year, they publish a newspaper called Military History, which contains articles on the history of the Slovenian Army.

The museum takes care of the library of the Center of Military Schools and organizes workshops and lectures and engages in school activities closely related to the topic.
