The Museum of Photography is a paradise for lovers of cameras and good photos. In the collection of this museum there is a permanent exhibition of August and Marije Bohanec. August Bohanec was a dealer in photographic equipment, a locksmith by profession, originally from Slovenia, who was born in Slovenia in 1933, and became famous in the USA.
He was a collector of photo equipment, and his wife Maria became famous as such. In 1988, he donated his camera collection to the city of Maribor, and later the Photo Museum was opened. There are 1,645 valuable items in the collection of August Bohanec, such as cameras, projectors, film cameras, flashes and filters, as many as 1,100 cameras, as well as various photo accessories. The museum also organizes contemporary exhibitions that show the work of contemporary photographers as well as those from the distant past.
The goal of this museum is to show visitors how photography and its equipment have developed throughout history. Everyone can see the greatest part of the masters of this craft here. Some of the most beautiful and best photos are in the museum. The museum is enriched with objects of other photo masters who come from Slovenia.
