The museum collects, documents, interprets and conducts research on the cultural heritage of Maribor and Slovenians. With permanent and temporary exhibitions, the museum brings you closer to the 20th and 21st centuries with an emphasis on Maribor.

There are 6 exhibition halls in total. Numerous photographs, negatives, documents, and video materials have been preserved in it. In the museum, Maribor from the period of the Second World War is also introduced. The museum is also of an interactive type, thus providing its young visitors with creative workshops, special evenings, graduation preparations, etc. It is very important in the local community because it often deals with current problems. The permanent exhibition shows the history of Maribor as it was in the 20th century. By visiting the museum, you get to know General Rudolf Meister, observe the period between the First and Second World Wars, the period of the struggle for the northern border and the course of the Second World War itself.
