History, culture, customs and traditions - all this makes up the city of Maribor, all this together, apart from walking around the city, it is possible to see it in the Regional or Provincial Museum. Archaeology, ethnology, culture, everything is housed in a fairy-tale white building called the City Castle, in the center of the city of Maribor. In 1902, the museum society of Slovenia was founded, and in 1924, the diocesan collection of the Maribor Museum joined this society, and in 1938, this collection moved to the building where it is located today - in Gard Castle. Significant portraits, national costumes, uniforms, furniture, weapons, gold and silver essays and many other cultural heritage adorn this museum, which is a must-see for history and art lovers.
The museum space is also used for classical music concerts and literary evenings because the atmosphere in the castle itself is impressive. It is possible to visit the museum individually or accompanied by a guide and curator. In the museum there is a shop with the most beautiful Maribor souvenirs and written tourist guides.
