Madrid:

The CaixaForum

The CaixaForum

Another one of the most visited museums in Madrid is CaixaForum Museum. It is recognizable by its vertical living green wall designed by Patrick Blanc. There are over 250 species of plants on the wall, or 15.000 plants that survive without soil. The height of the wall is 24 meters. This is a work of art that you will admire. Certainly the CaixaForum Museum is not only known for this.

First of all, it is the socio-cultural center of the 21st century. In it, you get acquainted with modern and contemporary art, multimedia, get information about music and poetry festivals, encounter creative workshops, debates about current events, etc. This is where the spread of culture and the promotion of art starts, and you will come across permanent and temporary exhibitions that are very interesting.

The building in which it is located is the old Mediodia power station, and its renovation was done by the architectural firm Herzog & De Meuron. It has an unusual appearance, with a brown facade and sharp edges. It is close to the Art Walk, Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia museums.

The museum covers an area of 2000 square meters, contains exhibition halls, an auditorium with 322 seats, conference halls, a souvenir shop, and a cafe. The cafe is a real little gem in this place. It has a very nice interior, the atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant. Chandeliers that hang along the entire ceiling, give the ambience a special note of warmth.
