The Sorolla Museum

Sorolla Museum is described as the favorite museum to visit among the visitors. A walk through the Sorolla Museum will impress you, it is the house of the prominent artist, influential Spanish painter of the 20th century, Joaquin Sorolla that will show you the development of his art, his way of life and his relationship with his family. You will also have a complete experience in the yard of his house, which is full of flowers, fountains and sculptures, which Sorolla himself designed. A beautiful and peaceful oasis was often the inspiration for his paintings.

The museum is located in the heart of the Chamberi district, in General Martinez Campos Street, and is considered to be the best preserved house-museum of an artist in Europe. Joaquin Sorolla lived here with his family from 1911 until his death in 1923, and his wife left the house to the Spanish government in 1925. And at her request, in memory of this excellent artist, the house was turned into a museum.

The house was designed by the artist himself in 1910-1911, and he strived for his private life and work to be united into one. His family was very important to him and he wanted to spend as much time with them as possible, so his house was created together with the studio. Officially, the museum was opened in 1932, keeping the look it had when the Sorollo family lived there. Decoration, paintings, photographs, clothes and jewelry, ceramics, sculptures, drawings are just a part of what you can see in the house. In the museum you can also see the works of the artist's daughter Elena.

This is a museum worth visiting, take advantage of two hours of amazing art and experience the atmosphere of the home of this Valencian artist. His most prominent paintings are "Walk on the beach" and "The little sailing boat", which are also exhibited in the museum.
