For all technology fans, the Museum of Technology will be a huge temptation for visiting. The main “Experiment your way to smart ideas” exhibit is only one of many. The museum is interactive and it offers you an opportunity to create your own virtual sculptures, to play telepathically play the music, and numerous other activities that reinforce your mind. It is the largest museum of technology in Sweden, and it expands on 10.000 m2. In the archive, there are more 1.200 shelves with documents, among which there are 200.000 maps and drawings, and over a million of paintings and photos. Saved letters, newspaper cuttings, audio recordings, movies, books, technological and industrial development in Sweden – everything is saved from history and displayed in this museum.
The Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, the Swedish Inventors' Association and the Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers found the National Museum of Science and Technology in 1924. The building is designed in the functionalistic style by the architect Ragnar Hjorth. It was opened in 1936.
There are a restaurant, a souvenir shop, and a parking lot within the museum. The prices range from 7€ to 18€. The dishes are carefully picked based on the fresh produce during the season. It is vegetarian based, but there are fish and meat meals on the menu as well. The Museum of technology is definitely worth the visit. It will give you an incredible experience of travelling through time.
In 2016, the museum received the Museum of the Year Award, which is awarded by the Swedish branch of International Council of Museums and by the Swedish Riksförbundet Sveriges museer.
In 2017, the Museum received the Children in Museums Award from the International Association of Children in Museums.
