The Madame Tussauds New York

The Madame Tussauds New York

Madame Tussauds New York is a museum with more than 200 wax sculptures, located on Times Square, and it is one of the most famous wax museums in the world. Marie Tussaud was born as Marie Grosholtz in 1761 in Strasbourg, France. Her mother worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Philippe Curtius in Bern, Switzerland, who was a physician skilled in wax modelling. Curtius taught Tussaud the art of wax modelling. In 1777, Tussaud created her first wax sculpture of Voltaire and soon after began sculpting death masks of notable victims in the French Revolution. Dr. Phillipe Curtius died at the end of the 18th century, and Marie Tussaud inherited his entire collection.

Marie Tussaud got married in 1795, and she moved to London in 1835 where she opened the Madame Tussauds Museum. That is how the story about the magnificent vax museum began, even though it has changed over time, it still a must-visit.

What the Madame Tussaud Museum in NYC is special for are unique rooms, different from any other Madame Tussaud museum. One of them is the Party Opening Night room – an interestingly decorated room where you can see and take a picture of world's most famous stars from the world of music and film.

You can also visit other theme rooms where you can see sculptures of different presidents of the US, singers, sportsmen and other celebrities. In addition to that, you can also visit the Yellow Oval Room – there you will see sculptures of former presidents of the US. The museum also houses the so-called "Scream" attraction, where sculptures are mixed with real people from the world of acting which aim to scare visitors.
