New York City:

The Buses

The Buses

Bus lines cover the whole city, but they are not as fast as the subway. Tickets are more expensive, too. However, buses are equipped to transport people with disabilities as well, while the subway is not. New York bus lines connect all city boroughs, and they are marked with letters. M – Manhattan, Q – Queens, B – Brooklyn. There is also a combination of letters, such as MB which stands for Manhattan-Brooklyn. Bus lines that connect 2 or the boroughs are the so-called express lines, and tickets are more expensive - $6.75.

For $62 a week, you can take all express bus lines, as well as local lines and the subway.  For tickets other than single-ride tickets, you have to buy MetroCard. You can get it in the subway or on a kiosk. It costs $1, and you can add credit later on, or take up a special offer, such as a weekly or 30-day card.
