The Evita Peron Museum

The Evita Peron Museum

The Evita Peron Museum Delve into the life of Argentina’s most beloved people of all time. The museum was officially opened in 2002, on the 50th anniversary of the death of Evita Perón, who was the wife of former Argentine president Juan Perón, and the First Lady between 1946 and 1952. The museum contains the biggest collection of Evita Perón’s dresses, letters and other personal belongings. The building itself is called Casa Carabassa, and it was constructed in the 20th century. The headquarters of the Evita Perón Foundation used to be hosued within the buildings, which was a humanitarian organization established by Evita and her husband. During the 1950s, the building served as a shelter for women and children in need. Evita and her husband were patrons of the poor and were literally adored by the working class.

The first floor of the museum tells the story of Evita Perón’s early life as a poor girl born as a fifth child of a family living in rural Argentina. The story is told by photographs, souvenirs and gifts she’s received, video footage etc. Her acting days, life with Juan Perón and her humanitarian work with poor families of Argentina are also depicted here.
The second floor of the museum contains a series of short films of Evita’s speeches as the First Lady. She was considered a fashion icon, which leads many to visit the museum just to see what she used to wear at receptions and other formal events.

The museum is truly magnificent and we highly recommend you visit it. It also houses a cafe and a restaurant where you can enjoy a coffee and an Argentine lunch.
